Every cloud has a silver lining
Cracovia are back at the training ground. The players will try to draw conclusions from the last defeat to make a good start to the playoffs on Saturday.
Last Saturday Cracovia faced Śląsk Wrocław in the final game of the regular season. Our team played well in the first half and took the lead through Mateusz Cetnarski goal, but after the interval the hosts were the better side and found the net twice. This means that next weekend Jacek Zielińskis men will start the playoffs being fifth in the league table. (So far each club has played a total of 30 games. The table has been split into the championship group (1-8) and the relegation group (9-16). The top eight teams compete for the title and the bottom ones play to avoid relegation.)
‘We are really angry with ourselves after the narrow 2-1 defeat to Śląsk Wrocław, however it all motivates us to train even harder. We spent most of the season being third in the Ekstraklasa table and now suddenly someone takes our place. We want to have a chance to play in the European club competitions so we dont give up and will do everything we can to win the games that are to come. We hope the last defeat will drive us to win against Piast Gliwice, Erik Jendrišek thinks that every cloud has a silver lining and the loss may have a positive effect on the team.
He also passes comment on Saturdays defeat: ‘In the last couple of games we made too many individual mistakes. In Wrocław our opponents got the winner in injury time which didnt give us much time to score an equalizer. We played really well in the first half and its hard to believe what happened after the interval. Today we will analyze the game together with our coaching staff, who will tell us how to play next weekend to avoid making the same mistakes and do better.
Prior to analyzing the game, players took part in a training session. Yesterday they got a day off, this morning they exercised in the gym and in the afternoon they were back to the clubs training centre to train on the pitch.
