Malmö FF is our rival in the Europa League's first qualifying round
10.08.2020

The Swedish side of Malmö FF was drawn to be Pasy's rival in the first elimination round of the UEFA Europa League. The promotion to the next phase will be decided by one meeting, to be played at the Eleda Stadium in Malmö. The matches of the first round are scheduled for 27th of August.
Malmö FF is the current vice-champion of Sweden. During last season, the team from the port city has ended as one-point-less side to the champions from Djurgårdens IF. However, the European rival of Cracovia had the lowest number of losses in the season at the time - Malmö lost to their opponents only three times out of 30 meetings. The 2019 season (as the Swedish league played in the spring/autumn system) ended with a goal difference of 56-16, which was also the lowest number of goals lost in the whole league.
The Swedish team also achieved the Swedish Cup final, losing to IFK Göteborg by 1:2. In the current season of Allsvenskan (the highest league of the country) the players of our rival are in the leader position with 31 points after the 14 games played.
Malmö FF play its matches at the Eleda Stadium, a modern stadium with 22,500 seats available. Due to the sanitary restrictions in the European games, the stands will remain empty during the meeting with Cracovia.
The coach of the team since January 2020 is a former player of Feyenoord Rotterdam, Dane Jon Dahl Tomasson. This is his first training job outside the Dutch league, where he led the Excelsior and Kerkrade teams in 2013/14.
Malmö has regularly participated in European competitions in recent decades, reaching, among other achievements, the group stage of the UEFA Champions League in the 2014/15 - 2015/16 seasons. It is also the only Scandinavian team that has had the opportunity to play in the european cup final, in 1978/79, losing to Nottingham Forest in the final battle of the European Champions' Cup.
The start time of the Pasy's meeting in Malmö will be detailed soon.
